Since time immemorial, women have been the inspiring force behind human existence, embodying an inexhaustible reservoir of life-energy. Overcoming adverse circumstances, they have adorned various fields such as politics, literature, arts, and culture with their grace and grandeur, continuously shaping them into ever-new forms while shouldering the immense responsibility of social welfare. This makes the significance of women’s education indispensable.

In the past, women’s education was neglected and almost nonexistent, a matter of great concern for civilized society. Social reformer Smt. Jwala Devi took a stand against this pressing issue and ignited the movement for women’s education, firmly embedding ‘Vedic values and traditions’ at its core. As a result of her dedicated efforts, this college stands today as the living embodiment of her noble resolutions, recognized throughout the region for its illustrious Vedic and traditional academic heritage.

Notably, this institution commenced in 1919 as a Sanskrit school with only 15 students. Upholding its Vedic traditions, it has progressed to a full-fledged college, expanding from Sanskrit studies to modern computer science, fulfilling Smt. Jwala Devi’s visionary dreams with remarkable success.

The history of the college is a source of immense pride. In its early decades, the convocation ceremonies were graced by eminent personalities such as the first female Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Sucheta Kripalani; former Governor Dr. B. Goyal Reddy; Minister of Education; Chairman of the Legislative Council, Dr. Virendra Swarup; Chief Justice Shri Kunwar Bahadur Asthana; Justice Shri D.K. Trivedi; and renowned scientist Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee, Prof. Sarvagya Singh Katiyar. Their esteemed presence has added to the institution’s glory.

Over the years, the college has produced outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to society. A testament to this is the presence of our alumnae as principals and professors in almost all major institutions of Kanpur. Faculty members from this college have also played pivotal leadership roles as President and General Secretary of the Kanpur Teachers’ Association, further enhancing its prestige.

• Initiatives like ‘Seeta Rasoi’ for food donation and the ‘Aashirwad’ program for aiding the underprivileged.

• Free coaching for competitive examinations.
