Jwala Devi Vidya Mandir P.G. College believes that the key to success always lies in continuously reinventing itself and thus the institution restructures both its curriculum as well as governing policies. Thus, the college is seeking to ensure access, equity, and excellence to enable our students to meet the challenges of the new millennium through expansion of ICT equipped audio-visual teaching methods, to boost learners’ knowledge retention and interest levels and modernization of classes by converting them into Smart Classes. The Institution has recently launched Project Samarthya, a programme of enhancing capabilities and competencies in the students through upgradation of their skill and knowledge, to keep in pace with the fast-growing world of technology.

The Institution has already initiated the phase I of the Project Samarthya, by recently completing the construction of fully equipped Smart Auditorium. The Institution is committed to cater to higher education of the under privileged gender at the undergraduate and post-graduate level by imparting holistic education through advancing the frontiers of knowledge to ignite an inquisitive mind, inculcate the skills to achieve excellence, realize the nuances in research, seek and deal with challenges and carve out a niche for self.

OUR FOUNDER -Smt Jwala Devi

A Witness to the Freedom Struggle, a Great Scholar, Smt. Jwala Devi, who dedicated her entire life to the great sacrifice of the hundred-year-long journey of Jwala Devi Vidya Mandir, was a socially conscious woman. She believed that an educated woman in society plays a major role in the development of a disciplined and characterful citizen. Smt. Jwala Devi was a thoughtful, visionary, and highly dedicated scholar who was sensitive to women’s education. During the freedom movement, she proved to be a milestone in the field of women’s education by giving prominence to the national education policy under the non-cooperation movement launched by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. She lived her life as a strong advocate, promoting women’s education along with her Vedic values and traditions. A women of indomitable Courage , Smt JwalaDevi A Woman of Indomitable Courage, Smt. Jwala Devi was also an indomitable, fearless, and confident woman who lit the torch of women’s education in a society full of superstitions at that time. She had to face various kinds of social humiliation, harassment, and neglect, even though her husband was the District Collector of Kanpur at that time. In the midst of social neglect, even the maid who worked in her house stopped working in her house. Yet, Smt. Jwala Devi, an embodiment of compassion, who had a firm faith in the values and traditions of Indian culture, remained firm and unwavering on her goals. She realized the dream of an educated woman society that she had seen, in the form of a school with 15 students in her own house. In 1919 AD, Smt. Jwala Devi laid the foundation of a Sanskrit school in the pious memory of her revered father, Late Shri Rai Bahadur Singh. Inspired by the Vedic tradition, this seed has transformed into a huge banyan tree, and is proud of its saga of infinite achievements, gradually gaining recognition as a primary, intermediate (junior and senior), and college. The all-round development of the personality and character of the students has been the main objective of our Vidya Mandir. The college is constantly striving for educational advancement with a view to the successful culmination of this goal.

Throughout history, women have been a powerful force, bringing life, inspiration, and progress to the world. Despite challenges, they have excelled in politics, literature, arts, and culture while contributing to social welfare. This makes women’s education essential for a better future.

In the past, women’s education was ignored, which was a major concern for society. Social reformer Smt. Jwala Devi recognized this problem and started a movement for women’s education, focusing on Vedic values and traditions. Because of her hard work, this college was established and has become a respected institution known for its strong academic roots.

Starting in 1919 as a small Sanskrit school with just 15 students, the college has grown into a full-fledged institution offering courses from traditional studies to modern subjects like computer science. This growth reflects Smt. Jwala Devi’s vision and dedication.

The college is known for its high academic standards, quality resources, and student support. Teachers here are not just educators but also researchers and thinkers, publishing their work in respected journals. Following the New Education Policy 2020, the college balances traditional learning with professional courses, helping students gain knowledge and confidence while staying connected to Indian culture.

Beyond academics, the college encourages overall development through clubs, cultural events like “Founders’ Week,” and sports activities. These programs help students grow creatively, physically, and socially.

The college has a proud history, with visits from notable figures like Uttar Pradesh’s first female Chief Minister, Smt. Sucheta Kripalani, and scientist Prof. Sarvagya Singh Katiyar. Many former students now hold important positions in education and other fields, and current students regularly achieve top honors in exams.
