Jwala Devi Vidya Mandir P.G. College believes that the key to success always lies in continuously reinventing itself and thus the institution restructures both its curriculum as well as governing policies. Thus, the college is seeking to ensure access, equity, and excellence to enable our students to meet the challenges of the new millennium through expansion of ICT equipped audio-visual teaching methods, to boost learners’ knowledge retention and interest levels and modernization of classes by converting them into Smart Classes. The Institution has recently launched Project Samarthya, a programme of enhancing capabilities and competencies in the students through upgradation of their skill and knowledge, to keep in pace with the fast-growing world of technology.

The Institution has already initiated the phase I of the Project Samarthya, by recently completing the construction of fully equipped Smart Auditorium. The Institution is committed to cater to higher education of the under privileged gender at the undergraduate and post-graduate level by imparting holistic education through advancing the frontiers of knowledge to ignite an inquisitive mind, inculcate the skills to achieve excellence, realize the nuances in research, seek and deal with challenges and carve out a niche for self.

स्वतंन्त्रता संघर्ष की साक्षी, महान विदुषी, ज्वाला देवी विद्या मंदिर की सौ वर्षों की अनवरत यात्रा के महायज्ञ में अपनी संपूर्ण जीवन आहुति को समर्पित करने वाली परम श्रेद्ध्या स्मृतिशेष श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी एक समाजचेता थीं। समाज की शिक्षित महिला ही एक अनुशासित व चरित्रवान नागरिक के विकास में महती भूमिका का निर्वाहन करती है। श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी ऐसी ही एक चिन्तनशील, दूरदर्शी और स्त्री शिक्षा के प्रति संवेदनशील व पूर्ण समर्पित परम विदुषी थी, जो स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन के दौरान राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गाँधी द्वारा चलाये गये असहयोग आन्दोलन के अन्तर्गत राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति को प्रमुखता देते हुय़े भारत के तत्कालीन सामाजिक परिस्थिति में महिला शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में ‘मील का पत्थर’ साबित हुई तथा एक सशक्त पुरोधा के रुप में जीवन पर्यन्त अपने वैदिक मूल्यों व परम्पराओं के साथ महिला शिक्षा को बढ़ावा देते हुए जीवन में एक आदर्श प्रस्तुत किया।

वास्तव मे नारी राष्ट्र की आधारशिला है। श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी भी एक ऐसी अदम्य साहसी, निडर व आत्मविश्वास से परिपूर्ण उदारमना महिला थीं, जिन्होंने तत्कालीन अन्धविश्वास से परिपूर्ण समाज में स्त्री शिक्षा की जब अलख जगायी, तब उन्हें विभिन्न प्रकार के समाजिक अपनमान, प्रताड़ना व उपेक्षाओं का सामना करना पड़ा, जबकि उनके पति उस समय कानपुर के जिला कलक्टर थे। सामाजिक उपेक्षाओं के क्रम में उनके घर काम करने वाली सेविका से समाज में लोगों ने अपने घर काम कराना भी बन्द कर दिया था। फिर भीभारतीय संस्कृति के मूल्यों व परम्पराओं पर ढृढ़ आस्था रखने वाली दया की प्रतिमूर्ति श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी अपने लक्ष्यों पर ढ़ृढ़ व अडिग रही तथा एक शिक्षित महिला समाज का जो स्वप्न उन्होनें देखा था, उसे अपने ही आवास में 15 छात्राओ के साथ पाठशाला के रुप में साकार कर दिया। श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी ने सन् 1919 ई. में अपने पूज्य पिताजी स्मृतिशेष श्री रायबहादुर सिंह की पुण्य स्मृति में संस्कृत पाठशाला की नींव रखी। वैदिक परंपरा से अनुप्राणित यह बीज विशाल वट वृक्ष के रुप में परिणत हो अपनी अनंत उपलब्धि गाथा के साथ क्रमशः प्राइमरी, इण्टर (जूनियर एंव सीनियर) तथा महाविद्यालय के रुप में अपनी मन्यता से गौरवान्वित हो रहा है। छात्राओं के व्यक्तित्व एंव चरित्र का सर्वोतोन्मुखी सर्वागीण विकास ही हमारे विद्या मंदिर का प्रमुख उद्देश्य रहा है। इस लक्ष्य की सफलतम परिणति हेतु निरंतर प्रयासरत रहते हुए यह महाविद्यालय शैक्षिक उन्नयन हेतु अग्रसर है।

A Witness to the Freedom Struggle, a Great Scholar, Smt. Jwala Devi, who dedicated her entire life to the great sacrifice of the hundred-year-long journey of Jwala Devi Vidya Mandir, was a socially conscious woman. She believed that an educated woman in society plays a major role in the development of a disciplined and characterful citizen. Smt. Jwala Devi was a thoughtful, visionary, and highly dedicated scholar who was sensitive to women’s education. During the freedom movement, she proved to be a milestone in the field of women’s education by giving prominence to the national education policy under the non-cooperation movement launched by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. She lived her life as a strong advocate, promoting women’s education along with her Vedic values and traditions.

A women of indomitable Courage , Smt JwalaDevi A Woman of Indomitable Courage, Smt. Jwala Devi was also an indomitable, fearless, and confident woman who lit the torch of women’s education in a society full of superstitions at that time. She had to face various kinds of social humiliation, harassment, and neglect, even though her husband was the District Collector of Kanpur at that time. In the midst of social neglect, even the maid who worked in her house stopped working in her house. Yet, Smt. Jwala Devi, an embodiment of compassion, who had a firm faith in the values and traditions of Indian culture, remained firm and unwavering on her goals. She realized the dream of an educated woman society that she had seen, in the form of a school with 15 students in her own house.

In 1919 AD, Smt. Jwala Devi laid the foundation of a Sanskrit school in the pious memory of her revered father, Late Shri Rai Bahadur Singh. Inspired by the Vedic tradition, this seed has transformed into a huge banyan tree, and is proud of its saga of infinite achievements, gradually gaining recognition as a primary, intermediate (junior and senior), and college. The all-round development of the personality and character of the students has been the main objective of our Vidya Mandir. The college is constantly striving for educational advancement with a view to the successful culmination of this goal.

राजनीति, साहित्य, कला, एवं संस्कृति के विविध क्षेत्रों में अपनी सुरम्यता एवं भव्यता का रंग भरती हुई उन्हें नित्य नवीनतम् आकृति प्रदान कर योग- क्षेम के गुरुतम् दायित्व का निर्वहन करती रही है। ऐसे में नारी शिक्षा का माहात्मय आवश्यक सा प्रतीत होता है। यद्यपि तत्कालीन समाज में नारी शिक्षा उपक्षेति और नगण्य थी, जो सभ्य समाज के लिए चिन्तनीय विषय था। समाजचेता श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी ने नारी शिक्षा की अलख जगा कर समाज की इस विषम समस्या का पुरजोर विरोध किया और महिला शिक्षा के केन्द्र में ‘वैदिक मूल्यों और परम्पराओं' को यथेष्ठ रूप से प्रश्रय दिया। जिनके सफलतम प्रयास के क्रम में यह महाविद्यालय परम आदरणीय श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी जी के पावन संकल्पो की साकार प्रतिमूर्ति के रूप में उपस्थित अपनी वैदिक – पारंपरिक गौरवशाली शैक्षणिक परम्परा के लिए सम्पूर्ण जनपद में विशेष रूप से उल्लेखनीय है। ध्यात्वय है कि इस संस्था का शुभारम्भ सन् 1919 ई. में मात्र 15 छात्राओं की संस्कृत पाठशाला के रुप में हुआ था, जो अपनी वैदिक परम्पराओं का निर्वहन करते हुए आज महाविद्यालय के रूप मे संस्कृत से संगणक तक की अविराम विकास यात्रा तय करते हुए श्रीमती ज्वालादेवी जी के सपनों को सफलता एवं सार्थकता से विभूषित कर रही है। किसी भी महाविद्यालय की श्रेष्ठता की प्रमुख कसौटियाँ हैं- अकादमिक गुणवत्ता, शैक्षिक संसाधन, छात्रा-हित संरक्षण एवं परीक्षा परिणाम। उक्त लक्ष्य की सफलतम् परिणति हेतु हमारा महाविद्यालय निरन्तर प्रयासरत्, आधुनिकतम् विकास पथ पर अग्रसर है। अकादमिक गुणवत्ता की उत्कृष्ठता को श्रेष्ठता की बुलंदियों तक पहुँचाने के प्रयास में महाविद्यालय की प्राध्यापिकाएँ निरन्तर अध्ययन, अध्यवसाय, शोध तथा सृजन कार्य में संलग्न रहते हुए अपने मौलिक पुस्तक लेखन, विभिन्न राष्ट्रीय व अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय शोध-पत्रिकाओं में शोध-लेखन व प्रतिभागिता के माध्यम से शैक्षिक उन्ययन हेतु तत्पर हैं। शिक्षा प्रक्रिया के तीनों घटकों – शिक्षा, शिक्षार्थी एवं शिक्षक का पारस्परिक सामंजस्य ही महाविद्यालय को उत्तरोत्तर उन्नति में शिखर पर प्रतिष्ठित करता है। नई शिक्षा नीति 2020 के क्रियान्वयन के परिणाम स्वरुप छात्राओं के ज्ञानार्जन, ज्ञान-सम्प्रेषण की विशिष्टता के साथ आत्मनिर्भर बनाने हेतु व्यावसायिक पाठ्यक्रम के माध्यम से बुनियादी शिक्षा पर विशेष बल देते हुए भारतीय संस्कृति और मानवीय मूल्यों के प्रति प्रगाढ़ सन्नद्ता पर बल दिया जा रहा है। साथ ही समकालीन राष्ट्रीय और अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय परिप्रेक्ष्य के अनुरूप शिक्षिका द्वारा शिक्षार्थी को विषयों के व्यावहारिक एंव व्यावसायिक दृष्टिकोण से भी ज्ञान सम्प्रेषित किये जाने के उद्‌देश्य से महाविद्यालय की प्राध्यापिकाएं अपने लक्ष्य में तत्पर और सन्नध रहती हैं। महाविद्यालय की छात्राओं में अपने चयनित विषय ज्ञान के साथ-2 अन्य अभिरुचि पूर्ण विषयों की दक्षता के लिए विविध क्लब संचालित हैं! छात्राओं के सर्वांगीण विकास और उनमें पारम्परिक मूल्यों और परम्पराओं के समावेश के क्रम में महाविद्यालय के संस्थापकों की पुण्यस्मृति में प्रतिवर्ष संस्थापक ‘सप्ताह समारोह’ के अन्तर्गत 30 नवम्बर से 6 दिसम्बर तक प्रतिदिन हवन-स्तवन के उपरान्त विभिन्न अन्तर्महाविद्यालयींय प्रतियोगिताओं के भव्य आयोजन के साथ प्रमुख आकर्षण ‘सांस्कृतिक संध्या’ केमाध्यम से छात्राओं में मानवीय सांस्कृतिक चेतना को विकसित करने की परम्परा स्वयं में विशिष्ट एवंअप्रतिम है।छात्राओं के समुचित विकास में स्वस्थ्य शरीर शान्तिदायी मन और संकल्पों की सुदृढ़ता हेतु प्रत्यनशील महाविद्यालय में वर्ष पर्यन्त क्रीड़ा संबंधी विविध आन्तरिक और बाह्य प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया जाता है। इस प्रकार महाविद्यालय की प्राध्यापिकाएँ, छात्राएँ एवं कर्मचारीगण सभी विद्यामन्दिर के उन्नयन में सन्नध्य एवं तत्पर हैं। हमारा परम सौभाग्य है कि महिमामयी श्रीमती ज्वाला देवी के पूर्ण संकल्पों को संजोये यह विद्यामन्दिर निरन्तर ज्ञान विज्ञान के आधुनिकतम क्षेत्र में पुष्पित पल्लवित होता प्रगति के पथ पर अग्रसर है। महाविद्यालय का इतिहास अत्यन्त गौरवशाली रहा है, जिसके प्रारम्भिक दो दशकों में दीक्षान्त समारोह के अवसर पर तत्कालीन प्रथम महिला मुख्यमंत्री उत्तर प्रदेश- श्रीमती सुचेता कृपलानी, तत्कालीन राज्यपाल डा. बी. गोयल रेड्डी- शिक्षा मंत्री, अध्यक्ष विधान परिषद डॉ. वीरेन्द्र स्वरूप, मुख्यन्यायाधीश श्री कुँवर बहादुर आस्थाना, न्यायमूर्ति श्री डी.के. त्रिवेदी, पद्म श्री एवं पद्‌मभूषण से सम्मानित प्रो. सर्वज्ञ सिंह कटियार एक प्रख्यात वैज्ञानिक आदि की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति महाविद्यालय के लिए गौरवपूर्ण है।

अपनी विशिष्ट परम्परा को समेटे यह महाविद्यालय समाज को समय-2 पर ऐसे प्रतिभाशाली व्यक्तित्व को देता रहा है जिसका ज्वलंत उदाहरण है कानपुर नगर के लगभग सभी संस्थाओं में प्राचार्या और
प्राध्यापिका के रूप में महाविद्यालय की पुरातन छात्राएं अपने शैक्षिक दायित्वों का निर्वहन कर रही है। कानपुर शिक्षक संघ के अध्यक्ष और महामंत्री के रुप में यहाँ की प्राध्यापिकाओं ने कुशल नेतृत्व करते हुए
महाविद्यालय के गौरव में अभिवृद्धि प्रदान की है। हमारे लिए यह गौरव का विषय है कि यहाँ की अध्ययनरत छात्राएँ प्रतिवर्ष किसी न किसी विषय में विश्वविद्यालय परीक्षा में स्वर्ण पदक प्राप्त कर शैक्षिक क्षितिज पर अपना परचम फहरा रही हैं।
इसी क्रम में मेरे कार्यकाल में कुछ वर्तमान सुधारात्मक प्रयास एवं भावी योजानाओं हेतु की गई पहल की रूपरेखा इस प्रकार है-
 छात्राओं की अभिरुचि और कौशल क्षमता के अभिवर्धन हेतु विविध क्लबों की स्थापना।
 दीवार पत्रिका का संयोजन और प्रकाशन कार्य
 छात्राओं की मुखर अभिव्यक्ति हेतु ‘सृजन संवाद मंच’ की स्थापना
 विद्युत, जल जैसे संसाधनों के संरक्षण के साथ-2 पर्यावरण संरक्षण हेतु दायित्त बोध के प्रतिजागरुकता एवं अभिरुचि का बोध कराना ।
 आत्मसुरक्षा हेतु छात्राओं को सजग एवं संवेदनशील बनाने का प्रयास
 धन संचयन, वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्, सबका साथ सबका विकास, परहित व लोक कल्याण के भाव बोध हेतु, सीता रसोई अन्नदान हेतु, आशीर्वाद कार्यक्रम निर्धन के सहायतार्थ कार्यक्रम संभावित है।
 प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं की तैयारी का निःशुल्क क्रियान्वयन ।

 आगामी वर्षों में विभिन्न सर्टिफिकेट पाठ्यक्रम का संचालन।

 व्यवसायिक पाठ्‌यक्रमों के संचालन की योजना ।
